The people who are awkward recieving your hugs or cheek kisses are probably the ones who need/appreciate them most because they’re not used to it
yeah… No. Some of us really don’t like hugs and kisses from strangers or people we only vaguely know. Some don’t really like that kind of greetings, period.
Please don’t make touches more insistent because you think we “need” them.
YES THIS ^
I once had a woman grab onto me and hold me tightly in a hug, and she put her lips to my ear and said, “I know you don’t like hugs, but I want one anyway.”
It was one of the creepiest things ever.
We had a group friend who used to insist on hugging everyone (every girl) in the group before leaving any gathering. He’d loom above wherever you were seated, arms wide, saying “c’mon” over and over again as if he was doing us a favour. It was very creepy, and always awkward.
I have a LOT of patience, and I don’t care if people try to make it awkward. If I was around your creepy guy friend, he never would’ve gotten a hug from me and he could’ve stood there all day. I do it with hugs and with hand-shaking.
The awkwardness is funny to me because EVERYONE knows it’s the creep who is making it awkward, not me, so he’s making himself look like an ass.
My family and the guys at the shop love it when I do it too 😀
