@mayalaen do you ship dirk and Todd to cause like… I think they’re cute

When I got about halfway through the first episode I was like okay I’ll probably end up reading some Dirk/Todd because I was sure there would be fanfic out there for that since it’s the main characters. They’re adorable! And they also have that weird opposite thing going on, which is so much fun 😀

But I wasn’t prepared for Bart/Ken to hit me so hard – like a smack to the face when the car broken down and that guy “helped” them fix it and was then going to kill them and steal the car.

And of course while there’s over 800 fics for Dirk/Todd on AO3, there’s only 26 for Bart/Ken, damn it.

I finally started watching Dirk Gently and I’m so confused but I’m also loving it despite my confusion

Have you seen/read anything else by Douglas Adams? Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, some episodes of Dr. Who, and Monty Python, etc.?

The humor in all those things is pretty much… just hang on for the ride. The confusion is part of the fun. I’m not going to promote drugs or alcohol here, but there are some parts of Monty Python that pretty much need some type of mind altering substance.

It’s all fast-paced, confusing, and this odd mix of slapstick comedy and dry whit. If you haven’t seen any Monty Python, I highly recommend it. If you don’t want to delve into all the many hours of it, try looking up things like Ministry of Silly Walks and Architect Sketch + Monty Python on YouTube.

Dr. Who and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy are considered to be in the same universe according to a lot of fans, and if you like Dirk Gently at all, you’ll probably like those too.

Bizarrely intuitive is another good descriptor of these shows/movies. Deep life lessons hit you over the head while all the chaos is confusing you. It’s just awesome 😀
