replied to your post “alternatives to evernote?”

What’s the CEO been saying?

Evernote recently changed their privacy terms, and now their employees are allowed free access to all our notes.

The CEO sent out an email saying there’s big and exciting changes, which usually means they’re making changes THEY think are awesome. The same thing happened with Delicious years ago, which is what I used before Evernote and Diigo, and that was a disaster.

They fired 15% of their staff, including a bunch of the executives and programmers.

There’s talk of them being on the brink of bankruptcy. That rumor started when they slashed their yearly membership prices in September, about the same time the email from the CEO went out.

There have been sync issues for weeks now. I haven’t been able to sync anything for about two weeks, but since early September there have been large chunks of time where sync wasn’t available.

There’s rumors in the geek world about the new CEO and currently employees switching to more of a big brother thing because they found so much bad shit on their servers once they changed their privacy policies, so now people are nervous their information is vulnerable.

There’s a lot of other things that are fishy too, but the stuff I’ve said above is more than enough for me to be worried 🙂

Hope you’ve had an awesome Birthday today, Maya 😊🍰🎂🎁🎈🎉

It was pretty nice! I relaxed a bit, finished watching Season 1 of The Night Manager (turned out to be better than I thought it would be), and made up gift cards for both the tattoo shop and the supply shop. Those turned out much better than I thought they would too!

For the first time ever we’re getting fancy, professional gift cards with the magstripe on the back and a design on the front and everything. It was fun to design them. I’ll be sending the designs and money in tomorrow, so in a couple weeks we should have gift cards 😀

Thank you!
